It’s no surprise that the number one reason people plan to attend HIMSS16 in Las Vegas (February 29 to March 4) is to learn more about healthcare IT. According to HIMSS, more than half of attendees want to learn more about enhancing their electronic health records and data and information exchange, making these the top two areas of interest. One of the hottest topics is surveillance software, which connects both EHR and data.

Penn Health’s CIO Mike Restuccia noted in a column in Healthcare IT News that he wanted to learn more about a turnkey approach to surveillance software that would allow a hospital to “constantly monitor our patient care and research data sets in order to proactively identify trends for changes in a patient’s health.”Penn developed its own software, but has found that it takes “significant planning, design, and development time and efforts,” which many organizations simply do not have or cannot commit to surveillance.

At the Wolters Kluwer Booth #5537 at HIMSS, you can see how our surveillance solution, Sentri7, can help your hospital stay on top of patient health, medication management, emerging infections and antimicrobial stewardship. Sentri7 was recently awarded the 2015/2016 KLAS Category Leader designation for Clinical Decision Support-Surveillance.

Exactly what results do Sentri7 customers see?

  • In less than two months of deploying Sentri7, Carteret General Hospital tracked monthly cost avoidance numbers equating to $3.2 million to $4.2 million a year.
  • In three years, Texas Health Arlington Memorial saw a 750% increase in antimicrobial-related activities and a 35% decrease in antibiotic costs per patient day.
  • Every hour, Sentri7 hospitals save $246,862 in total costs as a result of pharmacy interventions alone. That’s more than $720 million each year.
  • Every hour, Sentri7 processes 35,000 rules and documents more than 4,000 interventions. On an annual basis, that translates to more than 12 million interventions that improve care.

If you’re attending HIMSS, be sure to talk with our team about Sentri7 clinical surveillance. You can also learn more about UpToDate, ProVation Medical, and Health Language, three other Wolters Kluwer companies that will be sharing Booth #5537 with Sentri7.
